Vinchiaturo is one of the 36 counties of Molise, which can be found right in the heart of the Italian Peninsula, in the most northern part of the "mezzogiorno". What is famous is the Vinhiaturan route or the "saddle"of Vinchiaturo, the Appenine country side (554m) between the Biferno and Tammaro valleys, which divide the Central Apennines from that of the South.

The common territory has about three thousand inhabitants, and has a relatively flat morphology, considering its hilly appearance. The city centre is at an altitude of 622 m above sea level, and from a careful planimetrical observation, more settlements can be seen, spread around the municipal square, as well as an estate, which from here, overlooks the countryside; representing a possible route for development.
Dominating the passage is the parish Church of Santa Croce. Set on the highest point of the town, it is built in neo-classical style, with local stone, as is the bell tower with four storeys, whose ground floor has a rectangular layout, while the other floors are octagonal in shape. Within these walls are conserved the remains of the Roman martyr San Vitale, the patron saint of young people.

The Purgatory Church is situated near the municipal square. Its only nave represents an interesting portal in 1604 Baroque style coming from the abolished convent of Santa Lucia. The church of San Berardine of Siena, patron of Vinchiaturo, was erected in 1728. It is designed with a sole nave, with two small side chapels dedicated to saint Francis of Assisi and to the archangel Michael. On the side walls of the altar can be found two frescos from the master Leo Paglione on the life and death of the patron saint.

Of particular interest is the Fountain of 4 Loni in the main Square of the town, where four lions, set on the four plinths around the main cistern cause the waters to flow. In the territory of Vinchiaturo on the height of the rock, at an altitude of 1000 m, can be found the ruins of one of the oldest churches of Molise, the church of Saint Mary of Monte Verde; known to some as Saint Mary on the mount and to others as Santa Maria di Guglieto. The church was originally part of a monastery composed of three naves built in Roman Style, the only surviving part being the central apse, traces of the presbytery and the outer walls. Not so long ago, another church was built out of the ruins, and at present, religious functions are carried out there.

In the Carbone area, a few minutes away from the city centre is a nave, whose conformation is particularly evocative. It is today used for fishing purposes and for picnics.
Many are the examples of rural architecture and urban buildings, which can be seen as examples of the scalpellina art which was practised in bygone years.
In the region, there are shops, restaurants, hotels, farms, and small scale artisan industries.
There are many services and facilities for leisure and sport.
